Saturday 13th July 2019 - Sunday 14th July 2019
12:00 - 16:00
The Old Smithy Inn
Smithy Fest ’19 is almost here folks so here’s a rundown in the final days! Mad Dog Mcrea are on their way to Welcombe! It’s a privilege to be bringing the biggest band ever to play our little corner of North Devon and to introduce lots of new people to the beautiful Old Smithy Inn!
Ticket sales continue to go strongly online (please bring proof of purchase so we can tick you off the guest list on the way in).
Parking and Camping – hopefully as many folks as possible have now made arrangements for camping (and off road parking) – aside from this parking on our site will be on a first come first served basis and a section of the car park will be roped off for staff and band access. As always we encourage safe travel to and from the site so please make arrangements to have a designated driver or scheduled pick up so all have a safe and happy day!!! If you still need to book camping please Google Leddon Farm campsite, Koa Tree Glamping or Welcome X campsite.
Wristbands – you can’t get served without one!: Your wristband will be your ticket for service at the bar. We should take delivery of our festival wristbands this Thursday afternoon – so if you’re not an internet devotee and want to miss the entrance queue come to the pub and grab one!
Last year our Facebook post about the festival went out to almost 6,000 people – this year almost 18,000 have been reached and interest is growing. We are so excited to bring a great line up from around the country so here’s the list (also the graphic for the tee-shirts that will be available on the day).
The FAQs have been about the headline artists – confirming that Mad Dog Mcrea are on Sunday night around 9pm (again to answer an FAQ we would love to have had them on Saturday night but Sunday was their only availability). Mad Dog will be preceded by The Devil’s Deuce and before that by James Dixon. The Big Sets will headline Saturday Night backed up by local legends LAZY… Dapper Dad will DJ between bands on the Saturday with IG (from the Mafioso who played us a brilliant set last year) on the Sunday. Better Days will take over after party duties on Saturday night from 11pm in the main bar.
Kids – during each day we will have a bouncy castle for the kids (12 and under strictly with a limit on numbers). No adults bouncing!
Bars – we will have ale/cider tent tickets (x1 ticket = 0.5 pint) on the gate on the way in and they will be available on the main bar also. If you are paying for your wristband or for ale/cider tent tickets at the entrance please bring cash as we will not have card facilities due to lack of signal in these areas. The ale/ tent will be tickets only to make service faster. This year we will trial a cider and lager bar in the Football Table room at the end of the kitchen wing once the day gets busier and in order to keep queues down at the bar.
Festival Food – the kitchen will be serving a special festival menu from 1pm – 8pm each day consisting of burgers, nachos, pizza etc. Cone ice crams will be sold from the kitchen window.
Massage & Face Glittering – a clothes-on massage gazebo will be onsite to ease those tensions and get you in the party Mood!
Fundraising – on consecutive days locals who are completing an endurance challenge for a Children’s Cancer charity will be collecting and also members of the Welcome Children’s Playground Appeal so please give generously if you can to these worthy causes.
Can’t wait to see you all at the Smithy this Saturday and Sunday!!!
